The idea of Artificial Intelligence (AI) attempting to equate the performance of a supposedly intelligent machine against that of a human being seems mind boggling. Nevertheless AI develops into successful human performance, social and biological applications. Amongst them are in game playing, humanoids in helping handicapped persons, machine learning in finance and stock market, linguistics, automated reasoning, robotics, expert systems and genetics. Islam has concepts that can enhance AI development. Ulumul Mantiq can contribute to a powerful search algorithm. The concept of Al-Bayyan can open new understanding on the relationship of things for machine learning. The Tauhidic principles can be used in the process of "detaching the real from the unreal than reconnecting the two" in AI systems. This conference will introduce the Islamic approach as well as expose the prevalent philosophy and technology of AI. As such the topics are general in nature with the hope of widening the scope of the ideas, concepts and technology of AI that can be beneficial to the Ummah.
