Introduction

As agreed by ACM-ICPC Headquarters (Baylor, Texas), Malaysia will host the ACM-ICPC Regional 2010, and ACM-ICPC World Finals 2011. The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), with strong support of the Ministry of Higher Education had fruitfully brought ACM-ICPC to our country. IIUM being the office for ACM-ICPC Malaysia, plays the role --- to bring along all other universities in Malaysia to expose their students being challenged in their analytical and programming competency.

Today, IIUM organizes the Malaysia national level ACM-ICPC (al-Khawārizmī) annually as preparation platform for all our local universities contestants to prepare and qualify themselves for the Asia Regional and subsequently the World Finals ACM-ICPC. Even tough ACM-ICPC Malaysia al-Khawārizmī National Programming Contest is conducted locally, its contest model fully adopts ACM-ICPC World Finals and will be judged by international ACM-ICPC judge.

Objectives

Al-Khawarizmi 2009 is to be held with the following objectives:

* To provide an international standard programming competition platform among students in our local universities
* To recognize and reward Malaysian’s programming talents from our local universities
* To prepare ourselves (IIUM in particular and Malaysia as a country) to be competent and professional in organizing, hosting and participating the coming 2008 Regional and 2011 World Final Programming Championship events.
